Today Dell EMC announced the latest PowerMax Service Release (SR). Normally we have a single SR release in Q3, but this year we have two. The reason is that in our first release, which you can read about here and introduced NVMe over fabrics (FC-NVMe), we were unable to include SRDF for the 32Gb IO modules. This meant we could not support FC-NVMe with SRDF. This release now makes the feature whole. There is a second feature for our European friends, and as I’m not familiar with power regulations there I’m just going to put it here verbatim:
Lot 9 European Union compliance for power supplies used in director on the PowerMax 2000 and 8000 as well as on the VMAX 250F
If you want to take advantage of SRDF with FC-NVMe, you will need to be running a PowerMax array and have the 32Gb IO modules as we don’t support VMAX All Flash with those modules, even if you are running the correct PowerMax OS code (which is 5978.479.479).
