PowerPath/VE 7.0 – NVMeoF (FC-NVMe) support

A real short post to let you know that PowerPath version 7.0 released today with support for vSphere 7.0 and NVMe over Fabrics – or specifically FC-NVMe. I wrote about vSphere 7 and FC-NVMe here if you need a refresher. Dell EMC of course recommends using PP/VE as a best practice with VMware.

  1. Hello Drew, I’m still confused that the “Multipathing Policies” is still accessible under vCenter to set MRU, RR or Fixed even if PowerPath/VE is in use…

    1. It’s just the way VMware does it but you can’t make any changes there. If you try to adjust to a different PSP, you can’t hit “OK”. When PP/VE owns a device, those multipath settings in vCenter are irrelevant.

      1. Definitively, they should disable the “Edit Multipath Policies” button…
